Welcome to Hydrogen's April 2024 release.

The new analytics utilities simplify the implementation of analytics with built-in support for Shopify's Customer Privacy API, Vite support is now stable, we've overhauled Hydrogen's SEO tooling and full-page caching is now available in Oxygen.

The release also includes stable support for bulk uploading environment variables via the CLI, a built-in client for Shopify’s Customer Account API, and automatic SSL tunneling in the Hydrogen CLI.

Today, we’re releasing a bunch of new Hydrogen and Oxygen features, all part of our continuing quest to make your developer experience faster and more flexible. Some of these new features are still unstable, but we want to get them into your hands early so you can provide feedback.

Try out new features like experimental support for Vite in local development, a new env push command to upload your local environment variables to Oxygen, and GitHub deployment comments on PRs in your linked Hydrogen repo. Plus, learn about how we're moving Hydrogen to a new monthly release cadence.

Hydrogen running on Oxygen is fast, easier than ever to build with, and customers love the results. But the job is never done — here’s how we've dedicated the last few months to making Hydrogen’s developer experience even more powerful.

It’s been just over a year since Hydrogen 1.0 shipped — and what a year. There are now thousands of merchants building with the Hydrogen and Oxygen stack, and hundreds already running in production today, processing over $1 billion in sales. We’re thrilled with the enthusiasm and feedback from the growing number of merchants, developers, and agencies that have built this community with us.

Our vision for Hydrogen is to let you spend less time building boilerplate code, and more time building your brand. We’ve made a lot of progress in pursuit of that vision in the last few months, and there’s more to come soon. Let’s take a look at where we are today, and where we’re going next.
