The new Hydrogen is generally available today. Since the developer preview started in June, we've shipped seven releases based on feedback from developers using it.

The big deal about the new Hydrogen is that it isn't a big deal: Hydrogen now works with any JavaScript framework. You can bring Shopify's commerce to your stack just by adding the library to your app, instead of needing to replatform.

Hydrogen then handles commerce for you: the cart, variant selection, prices in the buyer's currency, analytics that respect consent, Shop Pay, and customer login. React Router and Next.js have starters ready to deploy, and you can host it anywhere, including Oxygen, which is still free.

The package also includes skills that teach coding agents how to use it. To try it in an existing project, run npx @shopify/hydrogen@latest setup and ask your agent to "Set up my store with Shopify."

• Predictive search in the React Router template: Product suggestions appear as shoppers type.

• Currency on product views: Product view events carry their own currency, so Shopify analytics reports them correctly without extra setup.

• UCP business profile: Agents using the Universal Commerce Protocol find your store's business profile on your storefront's domain.

• API version 2026-10: Hydrogen now uses the 2026-10 versions of the Storefront API and Customer Account API.

• Customer Accounts in the React Router template: New projects come with sign-in and order history, and local HTTPS registers the Customer Account URLs for you.

• Consent-aware analytics destinations: Every analytics destination waits for consent, then receives the events that happened before it was registered, so nothing is lost while the shopper decides.

• Custom data on cart lines: Attach engraving text, gift notes, or custom options to a cart line straight from the product form.

• Skills that keep up with upgrades: One command keeps the agent skills in your project in step with the installed Hydrogen version, and another checks them in CI.

• UCP requests through your domain: Agents using the Universal Commerce Protocol reach your store through your storefront's own domain.

• Variant links: Links that name a variant, like the ones Shopify submits to a Google Shopping feed, now open on that variant instead of the product's default.

• Cart refresh: Reload the cart after your own code changes it, like a cart created on your server.
• Local HTTPS certificates: Hydrogen creates the certificates for Customer Account testing, so local login setup takes one command or none.
